Meet Jim Johnson

A Local Artist Bringing Beauty to the Heart of Keizer

Jim Johnson

Local Artist

Sculpture: "Cold, Wet Eagle"

My inspiration for the sculpture was watching the eagles in Dutch Harbor on cold nasty days sitting on the boat riggings.

Sculpture: "Please"

Please is one of a series of women showing feeling using cast bronze, sheet copper and steel.

Sculpture: "Blind Date"

He depicts your daughter's worst nightmare on a blind date. I tried to present the clown in a humorous way. Over time the patina changes the sculpture as it is exposed to weather.

Sculpture: "Praise"

One in a series of women showing emotion (Joy, Please, Exuberance, Welcome and Praise).

About the Artist:

I have been sculpting since I was in middle school. I studied industrial arts and minored in crafts at Oregon State University. I spent one year on sabbatical at Aichi University of fine arts in Nagoya, Japan. While in Japan, I was accepted to a National sculpture exhibit. I work in bronze and welded steel or a combination of both. My sculptures show movement whether a person or animal. I have/had sculptures all over the Northwest including Oregon, Washington, Colorado and Wyoming.
