Meet Jim Johnson

A Local Artist Bringing Beauty to the Heart of Keizer

Jim Johnson

Local Artist

Sculpture: "Cold, Wet Eagle"

My inspiration for the sculpture was watching the eagles in Dutch Harbor on cold nasty days sitting on the boat riggings.

Sculpture: "Please"

Please is one of a series of women showing feeling using cast bronze, sheet copper and steel.

Sculpture: "Blind Date"

He depicts your daughter's worst nightmare on a blind date. I tried to present the clown in a humorous way. Over time the patina changes the sculpture as it is exposed to weather.

Sculpture: "Praise"

One in a series of women showing emotion (Joy, Please, Exuberance, Welcome and Praise).

About the Artist:

Jim sculpted since he was in middle school. He studied industrial arts and minored in crafts at Oregon State University. Jim spent one year on sabbatical at Aichi University of fine arts in Nagoya, Japan. While in Japan, he was accepted to a National sculpture exhibit. Jim worked in bronze and welded steel or a combination of both. Jim's sculptures show movement whether a person or animal. Jim has/had sculptures all over the Northwest including Oregon, Washington, Colorado and Wyoming.

Local Artist James M. Johnson Passed Away on November 17, 2024
